Who is Skylar:
Skylar
Gwin is 19 years old and has Muscular Dystrophy. Even though Skylar is confined to a wheel chair, he loves to compete in sports
through Special Olympics and with the help of his dad, running in road races. Skylar and his dad, TEAM GWIN, have competed
in 5K, 10K ½ Marathons and Duathlon races over the past 5 years. Skylar and his family founded Average
Joe’s Racing Team in 2006 so his family and friends could join him in races. In just 1 year, Average Joe’s grew
to over 40 members in Atlanta, Birmingham, Tulsa, & College Station. Team Gwin will complete in the
Palm Beach ½ Marathon in December to raise money for Skylar’s Run.
About Skylar’s Run:
Each
year Skylar’s Run raises money for Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett and Gwinnett Special Olympics.
Average Joe’s Racing Team has added a 5K to the annual run-a-thon along with a Kids Fun Run and a Special Needs Buddy
Run. Jason Vance will return this year to lead the Run-a-thon with an Ultra-Marathon run. People participating in the Run-a-thon
